A master-planned waterfront community is one step closer to transforming some of the Kempenfelt Bay shoreline in Downtown Barrie, as City Core Developments' Harmony Village Lake Simcoe has taken the next step in the approvals process with a revised design. The RAW Design and Diamond Schmitt Architects-designed development will add approximately 1,200 homes in a row of townhomes and seven buildings ranging up to 25-storeys on a 3.5 hectare site. Harmony Village Lake Simcoe is geared both to families and toward the growing empty-nester demographic.
As the baby boomer generation looks to downsize from homes which have become too big for them, master-planned communities complete with amenities, and with walkable retail and commercial spaces are likely to become a trend. Harmony Village locations are aimed at being at the forefront of that trend. Once completed, the Lake Simcoe development will contain over 1.4 million square feet of space, including more than 240,000 square feet of commercial space and 73,130 square feet of retail.
